Master Bedroom Wardrobe — Elevation & Cutting List

Corrected layout · dimensions in mm · 20 Aug 2026

Assumptions — confirm before cutting: floor-to-ceiling 3000 mm · each bay 1200 mm wide · internal depth 600 mm. If your ceiling differs, flex the loft height first and the top shelf second — never the hanging rails. See adaptation note at the end.

What changed from your draft — and why

1 · The double hang didn't fit (the blocking fix)

Your draft stacked two short rails inside the same height as unit 1's long hang — about 610 mm per rail. Shirts on hangers need ~1000 mm; folded trousers ~900 mm. Everything would have dragged.

Fix: unit 2's hanging column now runs full height with no drawers beneath it (1050 + 900 = 1950 mm of rail). The drawers moved into the right-hand column under the shelves. Same storage, same footprint — it just needed re-stacking.

2 · The locker — anchoring, not height, is what secures it

Your draft had it shelf-mounted. A safe sitting on a shelf gets levered off with the shelf, and at 14 kg the NX Pro is light enough to carry away whole. I first moved it to the slab — but a safe you avoid because it’s awkward is worse than one at a marginally less secure height.

Fix: locker bay at 900–1320 mm AFF, keypad landing around 1050 mm — straight in the standing reach zone. It is secured by bolting through the back into structural wall, not by sitting low. Done properly that is genuinely strong: the meaningful gap is between anchored and not anchored, not between waist height and floor.

Three conditions the carpenter must meet:

3 · Shoes demoted

Daily shoes belong at the entry — they carry grit and odour into a clothes cabinet. Kept a vented pull-out for occasional/formal pairs only. It needs vents top and bottom so air actually crosses; a single vent line ventilates nothing.

4 · Added, because they're expensive to retrofit

If your ceiling isn't 3000 mm

Flex in this order, and stop as soon as it fits:

  1. Loft height — 600 down to 450, or up to 750. Absorbs ±150 easily.
  2. Top shelf — 430 down to 300 in bay 1; 350 down to 250 in bay 2.
  3. Drawer heights — 200 down to 180.

Never shorten the rails. 1250 long hang, 1050 upper, 900 lower are floors, not targets. If a 2700 mm ceiling forces a choice, drop the loft in bay 2 entirely rather than shrinking the double hang — that was the original mistake.

Drawn to a 3000 mm ceiling and 1200 mm bays. Dimensions in mm. Verify site dimensions before cutting.
